It’s hard to top the animal books from last week but here are some books that I think are a little funny and a little silly. I hope you all enjoy them!

the false prince
The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielson
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Thoughts: This book is funny because the main character uses a lot of sarcasm and I find him hilarious. He’s smart and witty but also a little full of himself and he quickly throws himself into danger. It doesn’t matter what he does though, he’s always go these sarcastic lines that you can’t help but at least smile. It’s about an orphan boy who gets roped into trying to because the lost prince with the help of a nobleman. It’s a really great story and everyone will love that ending!
princess diaries
The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
Genre: Middle Grade, Contemporary
Thoughts: If you’ve even seen the movie then you can understand the sort of humour in this series. Plus it’s just a little funny seeing someone else go through the awkward teenage years. For those of you that don’t know, this series is about a young girl who learns that she’s heir to the Genovian throne and then has to fit in princess training with the usual teenage things.
anna and the french kiss
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Genre: YA, Contemporary
Thoughts: To me, this book is funny in a cute way. Some parts are just so adorable that they’re cute. It’s about a young girl who is sent away to boarding school in Paris and has to cope with learning a new school routine and making new friends. There are some great characters in this book and lots of funny/cute moments.
fangirl
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Genre: YA, Contemporary
Thoughts: While I wasn’t a big fan of this book, I do still recommend it and think it was funny in a silly kind of way. It’s about two sisters starting college and who are making friends in different ways. It’s a little cute and a lot of silly in one book.
obsidian
Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Genre: YA, Paranormal
Thoughts: Most people wouldn’t consider this a funny book but I think the relationship between Katy and Damon in this first book is hilarious. They both try so hard to ignore each other and you can tell it isn’t working. It made the story so much more entertaining to read. This book is about a girl who moves to a new town and learns that the hot guy next door is actually an alien. As you can imagine, from that point on everything gets 10x more complicated.
6087756
White Cat by Holly Black
Genre: YA, Paranormal
Thoughts: The funny part of this book is the main character Cassel. He’s sarcastic and scheming and I find him very entertaining to read about. It’s about a world where some people have specific powers and Cassel’s who family has them except him. He starts out pretty normal and then he starts having some crazy dreams about, you guessed it, a white cat.The dreams flick a switch in his brain and Cassel starts questioning some things that happened in his past and discovers a “wicked plot for power that seems certain to succeed.”
red pyramid
The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan
Genre: Middle Grade, Fantasy
Thoughts: If you’ve read any Rick Riordan book you know that he has an almost silly way of telling his stories. It’s no different with this series. His narrators are just very good at saying exactly what’s on their minds. This series is similar to the Percy Jackson series only the Egyptian Gods are the ones mingling in with the humans.

Seriously, I’m kidding by Ellen DeGeneres
Genre: Adult, Humour
Thoughts: This whole book was meant to be funny. It’s a memoir told by Ellen so you can only imagine the funny things she wrote down. It’s exactly what you think it would be.
10335308
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me by Mindy Kaling
Genre: Adult, Humour
Thoughts: This is another memoir told by a comedian. I love Mindy Kaling to death and this book did not disappoint. I really like how she was good at being encouraging and funny at the same time. It was worth the read for sure.
Moon Called
Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
Genre: Adult, Urban Fantasy
Thoughts: I love the main character’s voice in this whole series. To me, she’s hilarious because she’s sarcastic, witty, and all sorts of other things. She’s just a really fun character to follow around. This series is about our main character Mercy and her life as a coyote shapeshiter, plus her neighbor the alpha werewolf. Their relationship gets very interesting, very quickly.

  1. The Princess Diaries kept me entertained for years when I was younger. They were so funny. And Rick Riordan is on my list too – I can barely read a chapter of one of his book without bursting into laughter. 😀

  2. I can’t believe I didn’t put Mindy Kaling on my list. I loved her book and thought it was hilarious! I would love to read the Ellen Degeneres one. I love her. Great list.
