Spotlight Saturday #3

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner, dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

Hey guys! It’s been a little while since I’ve done one of these so I figured I could manage a list of recent favourites from the last month or so. As you may or may not know, I’m not doing this feature weekly because I don’t have enough new things to show you. It’s more of a monthly feature for me. But you should still go visit Josie because she does this a lot more frequently than me.

I’m going to choose Aldii from Perfection in Books who I just met recently during the love-a-thon! We had a wonderful conversation about all the great urban fantasy books and she gave me tons and tons of recommendations. Definitely add her to your list!

I really enjoyed reading Erin’s post about commenting habits over at The Hardcover Lover. She talks about what she usually comments, commenting back, when she loves and hates them, etc. There’s tons there! So if you’re ever unsure about your commenting habits, go check out that post for sure!

nowhere but hereOh gosh. Where to start?! I’m going to pick Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry. It was my first 5 star book this year and I loved it. If you’ve been visiting my blog for any amount of time you should know that I’m not a big contemporary person. The lack of action can never hold my interest. This book, however, would not let me put it down! It’s contemporary but there’s so much drama and adventure with these characters that it’s impossible to not finish it in one sitting. If you’re looking for an action packed contemporary book then this is the one for you.

I don’t know about a moment but I’ve been having lots of fun during the A Darker Shade of Magic readalong. It’s my first group readalong and it’s so much fun talking about the book every week to people reading it at the same pace you are. I’ve also met tons of new people and bloggers which means my list of blogs to visit is only getting bigger and bigger.

So I’ve had this app for a while but only recently discovered how epic it is. It’s called IF and I use for all my blogging and social media needs. Basically this app has recipes that will connect to your various accounts to perform automated actions. Almost any app with an account is in here. Let me give you an example: Every time I post an image on Instagram, this app automatically tweets the full image (not just the link) and also posts it on my page I manage on Facebook. Another one is when I post a new blog post, it’s also tweeted and shared on my Facebook page. I also share my Instagram photos on Pinterest as well. There’s seriously tons of different things it can do for you! Check it out for sure!

Anyone a fan of Birdy? She’s coming out with a new album and has posted a couple songs on YouTube. I can’t wait for it!

“If a hiker gets lost in the mountains, people will coordinate a search. If a train crashes, people will line up to give blood. If an earthquake levels a city, people all over the world will send emergency supplies. This is so fundamentally human that it’s found in every culture without exception. Yes, there are assholes who just don’t care, but they’re massively outnumbered by the people who do.”
