The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare

Where did I get it?

Found it on sale ay my local pharmacy and couldn’t help but by it!

This collection of eleven short stories illuminates the life of the enigmatic Magnus Bane, whose alluring personality, flamboyant style, and sharp wit populate the pages of the #1 New York Times bestselling series, The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices.

Originally released one-by-one as e-only short stories by Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson, and Sarah Rees Brennan, this compilation presents all ten together in print for the first time and includes a never-before-seen eleventh tale, as well as new illustrated material.

I loved this actor in the movie. I thought he was the best one there! So I’m pretty glad he was featured on this book cover. It’s not that bad of a cover either.

Initial Thoughts

Who doesn’t love Magnus Bane? Seriously. I was extremely excited to finally get a little peek into some of his fantastic adventures.

My New BFF

Obviously Magnus. He really is an incredible character. He just doesn’t want to have a boring normal life and is always coming up with new adventures. I wish I was the kind of person who could live like that. It probably helps that he’s an amazing warlock and can make huge amounts of money doing random things.

My Crush

No crush in this book! Not as many straight guys as I would have liked! But if I could have Magnus I would!

Writing Style

I’m getting a little disappointed with Cassandra Clare. I think she’s pushing this world a little too much. Her writing keeps getting worse and worse and it makes me really sad because she had such a great start I found. I think she needs to cut off this world and go for something new.

Closing Thoughts

I was very disappointed in this book. I love Magnus to death but I didn’t think she wrote his character right. Most of his stories were actually pretty boring and Magnus just isn’t that kind of person. I think she tried so hard to keep this world going that it backfired on her because this isn’t a book I’ll be reading again. I’m glad I did read it but it’s not something I’ll ever recommend. Time for a fresh start.
