D is for Detail

(de·tail): an individual or minute part; an item or particular.

I love a book that has some detail. Not too much, but a good amount so that I can picture everything in my mind. I don’t want to hear every little unimportant detail about a story but I like reading about the scenes and the character descriptions. This one is pretty self explanatory so I’m going to go right into the book recommendations.

  • A Discovery of Witches
  • Grave Mercy
  • Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
  • The Casual Vacancy

Just a quick one today people! Enjoy!

  1. I love it when an author knows how to lay in just a few details that speak volumes about a family or character. Rainbow Rowell in Eleanor and Park definitely did that, showing us Eleanor’s poverty through details like washing her hair with dish soap.

Thanks so much for your biographical note and formatted essay. I will be passing your essay along to the editors to be copy edited. It will be returned to you for final changes and approval in the next four months or so.

What used to drive me crazy when I was an English major was reading Russian literature. They go into so much detail that it’s maddening.
