Hello lovelies and welcome to my stop on the Thanks A Lot John LeClair blog tour! Thanks A Lot, John LeClair is a young adult contemporary book that just so happens to feature hockey (one of my favourite things). I didn’t think I’d like a sports book like this but the characters were just so well done that I couldn’t help but love their story. Thanks A Lot, John LeClair by Johanna Parkhurst

I received this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Sixteen-year-old Emmitt LaPoint has secretly been writing letters to his hockey idol, John LeClair, for years. So it’s probably only fitting that Emmitt’s small Vermont town seems desperate to make him the next LeClair. After all, Emmitt is about to lead his high school hockey team to the state championship, he has a near-perfect GPA, and he’s liked by almost everyone.
But even golden boys have problems, and Emmitt has more than his share. His father’s back in town to breathe down his neck. He’s happily dating his coach’s nephew, Dusty, but almost nobody knows he’s gay—and that secret is getting harder and harder to keep.
When Emmitt discovers Dusty is keeping secrets of his own, he’s forced to decide exactly what kind of golden boy he wants to be.

Who I’d Recommend To
I’d recommend this to those who are on the hunt for diverse reads (an LGBT relationship is seen during this whole story). I think the author did a great job at keeping this relationship an important part of the story while also not making a big deal about it. (I’m hoping that made as much sense as it did in my brain.) I also think a lot of contemporary lovers will really enjoy this one, especially those who are currently in their teenage years.
A feel good, young adult contemporary book that will make you feel for the characters. Perfect for teenagers who are stressed and unsure about what they can become.
I highly encourage you all to go ahead and preorder this book! I can already tell that so many of you will fall in love with it like I did.
