Summer Blogger Promo Tour: Indie Recs with LaLa

Hello again everyone! We’re getting close to then end of this tour but I still have a couple more people to announce!
In case you forgot, the Summer Blogger Promo Tour is where I invited a new blogger to guest post on my blog every Sunday for the whole summer. It was created by The Book Bratz so don’t forget to check them out too! Today I’m hosting LaLa from La La in the Library! I went snooping around her blog and saw that she was a HUGE fan of indie books so I asked her to give us some of her recommendations. These are all books that you might not have seen before so be prepared to add a bunch to your TBR.

Chelsea went peeking around my blog and saw that I love indies and asked me to talk about some of my favorites. I decided I would give you one from each readership classification: Adult,  New Adult, Young Adult, Middle Grade, Children’s Chapter Book, Picture Book.

This book is Contemporary Paranormal with a dash of Psychological Thriller. It is about a stuttering high school Physics teacher who just happens to be an electric blanket loving vampire! It has a hint of diversity because he is seen as a “broken one” by other vampires. It is a 99 cent special price ebook right now.

I have not yet read any NA, but I am going to reccomend this paranormal historical literary romance because it is by one of my favorite YA authors A.G. Howard. Even though A.G. is now a NYT Best Selling author with her SPLINTERED SERIES published by Amulet (an imprint of Abrams publishing), she decided to self-publish this book because traditional publishers were asking her to rewrite it so it was a better fit for existing popular categories. You can read about her decision to self-publish: HERE. It publishes August 15th. I have an ARC and I will be reading and reviewing it next week! This also has a diverse slant because the MC is deaf.

This book got me out of a reading slump that was over a month long! It is about ghosts (who don’t like to be called ghosts) and they are in school, so it has a Potterish feel to it. The author’s world building and magical systems are flawless. The ebook is only $3.03. Again, you will get a gentle diversity nudge because the MC has Ehler’s-Danlos Syndrome.

This Magical Realism Contemporary paints an anime movie in your head! You will get full on diversity from this story because it is brimming with Japanese culture.

This is a charmimg, yet exciting, diverse anti-bullying story that will have the kiddos begging for just one more chapter before bedtime!

This is a wonderful story about the relationship between a child and her grandfather and how older people can learn and gain wisdom from children, too! It has a big helping of diverse content about two different cultural philosophies.
La La is a 59 year old book blogger who reads mostly YA, has a 24 year old son at university, is learning Japanese, makes a fab pumpkin pie, and likes a couple of martinis on Friday nights. You can find her pushing indie authors and talking books at La La in the Library and on Twitter @LaLaTOadstOne
