Book Traveling Thursdays: LGBTQ Week

Hello everyone! It’s Thursday and that means it’s Book Traveling Thursday time! For those of you that don’t know, Book Traveling Thursday is a feature created by Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. The goal is to show off beautiful covers and also different covers from around the world. You can join the GoodReads group if this is something you’d like to participate in.

This week’s theme is: “Choose a book that features your favorite LGBTQ couple.” This is a hard week for me because I don’t read many books with LGBTQ characters. It’s just not my thing. Plus when author do try it, a lot of the time it ends up sucking. So I keep my standards low and don’t really go out looking for these kinds of books. There is one that I thought did it nicely and it’s The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black. I love the mentions of it in this book because the author doesn’t make it seem like a big deal. It’s just kind of part of this character which I thought was really well done. This is still a newer book so there aren’t a ton of covers but there’s a few.

Original/Canadian Cover:

the darkest part of the forest

Favourite Cover: Besides the original cover (which I don’t want to pick twice!)  I like the white a lot more but this one is still ok.

Least Favourite Cover: This Czech cover is a little to childish for me.

Others: This Russian cover isn’t horrible, the art is nice at least.

Which are your favourites?! Let me know!

  1. I like the first two covers, I can’t really chose between them. I don’t like the freaky artwork on the Russian cover, although his face is really well drawn.

My 11 son has gone mad over a new fantasy series by Holly Black. I wonder if it’s the same author, the genres couldn’t be more different!

  2. Oh, I think there’s a ton of great LGBTQIA+ books, but the hyped ones tend to be somewhat disappointing, in my experience. That’s why it’s important to look for the lesser known ones. As for the covers, I think the original is the best, really. The Russian is… strange, but I sort of like it. I would like it better without the black frame.

Here is my BTT if you want to check it out.
