I’m actually excited for this week because it’s fun picking out books every week but it’s way more fun talking about bookish things I love.
1. Matching series all lined up on my shelves.
I’m an extremely visual person so when I see gorgeous books that match on my shelves I get happy. It’s a pet peeve of mine when they change the book covers mid series so that it’s impossible to get a matching set. I just want my series to be perfect.
2. Finding people who love the same books as you.
You know how excited you get when you’re talking about your favourite books? Imagine that x2 because it’s even more exciting sharing that excitement with someone who loves that book as much as you do.
3. Finding almost new books at thrift shops/book sales/used book stores
Nobody likes paying full price for anything and that includes books. I hate that on books it shows the US price along with the Canadian price because it just makes me sad. They’re expensive up here and I love finding books that are basically new for a really good price. It’s a great feeling.
4. Rearranging my bookshelves to make room for new books.
Sometimes I dread it, but when I find a good organization technique it always makes me happy. At this moment in time though, I need another shelf pretty badly. I hate stacking my books on top of each other to make everything fit.
5. Thinking of recommendations for specific people.
I love recommending books based off of what people love. It’s fun to try and think of books similar to other books but also aren’t too similar. It’s like a puzzle to me.
6. Discovering a new favourite author.
You know that feeling after you’ve given five stars to multiple books by one author and you realize it? You realize that you’ll probably love everything and anything that this author writes. It’s a good feeling.
7. Bookish spreadsheets.
I love any kind of spreadsheets but I love my bookish ones just a little bit more. I have one for series I’m reading, books I’ve read for each year, and even progress for certain reading challenges. I love seeing all kinds of stats and how far I’m progressing with my challenges.
8. Completing a reading challenge.
It’s just like hitting any other kind of goal or challenge but then it’s made so much better because you’ve read so many books to complete a challenge!
9. Buddy reading a book.
This one is just lots of fun. When you’re reading a book at the same time as other people then you get to talk about everything as you’re reading it instead of waiting until the very end.
10. Adding a book to my favourites shelf.
Who doesn’t love to see their favourites shelf grow bigger?!
