Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.

Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.

No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.

Thoughts When I Finished:

I think most of my thoughts were along the lines of “Wow”. This book exceeded all my expectations.

What I Loved:

The #1 thing I loved about this book was the action. I’m not normally a contemporary reader because there isn’t enough action in there to hold my interest. In this book there’s biker gangs fighting and some people are getting hurt and it’s just crazy! I’m honestly impressed that a contemporary book could leave me wanting more.

I also really loved the whole family this biker group had going on. I keep wanting to say gang but that’s not what they were. They were an exclusive club of males who loved to ride their bikes. They had strict rules but they were mostly just a giant family. It was really cool seeing how all of that worked.

Going along with the action, there was a lot of mystery to this book. Emily doesn’t know much about her dad and his family because her parents basically refuse to talk about it. It was really exciting seeing what actually happened with her parents. There were lots of twists at the end that I wasn’t expecting at all.

What I Didn’t Like:

Honestly, there wasn’t much I didn’t like about this book. I had a hard time with Emily’s grandmother at first because she was really pushing. Her dad also annoyed me some because he made it clear that nobody was allowed telling his daughter anything. It was like he was asking for a bad relationship. I ended up loving them both in the end though, after learning more about their characters.

Who I’d Recommend To:

I’d recommend this to people who aren’t big into contemporary books because they get bored like me. It made me want to give the genre a second chance. It’s also great for current lovers of contemporary who are bored with romance being the only focus. This book will keep you hooked until the very end.

Quick Review:

This book will leave you with the biggest book hangover you’ve ever had. Not only does it have a cute, forbidden romance going on, but it’s full of action, mystery, and even a little bit of danger. I promise, that if you pick up this book you’ll fall in love with the characters and never want to leave. This book will blow all your expectations out of the water.
