Bookish Scene: Forced to Read

Bookish Scene: Project 52 is about photography and showcasing books to fit weekly themes. It’s hosted by Word Revel and What Georgie Did.

I wasn’t forced to read this particular book but how many of you were forced to read a classic in school? I had to choose a classic for a book report and I remember picked Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. I’m actually really glad I did because I ended up loving her books! It’s because of her that I’m actually willing to read classics sometimes. My favourite of hers so far is Emma but I’ve also read Pride & Prejudice and, of course, Sense & Sensibility. I’m hoping to get to Mansfield Park next.

What books were you guys forced to read in school? Some books I ended up liking were The Outsiders, The Kite Runner, and Hamlet. I know one I didn’t like at all was Brave New World. I remember hating it. I don’t remember much I read before high school, it’s too far away, but I’m pretty sure I read Where the Red Ferns Grow, Tuck Everlasting, and Owl’s in the Family. I’m pretty sure those are the right titles.

Have you read any of these ones? Did you fall in love with an author because of a “forced read” like me? Let me know below, I’d love to chat!
