Valentine’s Day is coming up so this weeks TTT is all about that romance! I don’t read many strictly romance books but tons of YA books have their own little romances in them. There’s lots of people to pick from but I (somehow) managed to narrow it down to my top ten swoon worthy romances.
1. Oz and Emily
I love them both individually but they make such a great couple! While their romance is a little quick, I found it to be pretty realistic in the way that they start out being curious and then move onto falling in love. No insta-love here!
“You’re beautiful,” I say, and the honesty of my words stings. “You’re beautiful inside and out. I like how you challenge me. I like how I can never figure out what you’re going to do or say. I like how we’ve thrown weird shit in your direction and you take it like a pro.” I cup her face with one hand and caress her soft skin. “I like how you smile and how you laugh. I like how you love and defend your family and I like how you’re trying to love mine. I love how you trust. But mostly, Emily, I like how I feel when I’m around you.”
Shit. My heart bursts as the words tumble out. “I’m falling for you.”

2. Cole and Ali
This is one of those romances where you know it’s going to happen but it’s filled with so much passion that you can’t help but be excited about it! I love how Ali never doubted their relationship like a lot of YA books seem to do these days. She was dedicated and there was no love triangle to pull her apart from Cole. *SLIGHT SPOILER* I was a little disappointed that Cole tattooed Ali’s name on him though. That was too weird.
“Gavin has started calling you the queen of zombie hearts,” Cole said. “And you know what, he’s right. It fits. Before you, I wasn’t really living. I was existing. Moving from girl to girl. Killing zombies. I was as good as dead, but you brought me back to life. And you are most definitely the queen of my heart.”
~Cole from The Queen of Zombie Hearts by Gena Showalter
3. Sydney and Adrian
It’s impossible to read this series and not fall in love with the idea of Sydney and Adrian. They have completely opposite personalities but they somehow manage to fit with each other perfectly. Adrian brings out the playful side of Sydney and Sydney pushes Adrian to stop fooling around and get his life together. They’re ending made me especially happy.
“Sydney,” Adrian interrupted, cupping my face in his hands. “Never, ever think like that. I don’t regret anything we’ve faced. Being with you is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, the one perfect decision I’ve made in a lifetime of fumbling and poor judgment. I’d go through it all again to be by your side. Never doubt that. Never doubt how I feel about you.”
~Adrian from Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
4.Daemon and Katy
I feel like the best part of their relationship is in the beginning where they almost hate each other. I think it makes their romance way more fun than any insta-love relationship could have. Plus Katy is a pretty big book nerd so it’s kind of like imagining yourself with Daemon, isn’t it? Nobody can say that they aren’t attracted to Daemon.
“I’ve always found that the most beautiful people, truly beautiful inside and out, are the ones who are quietly unaware of their effect.” His eyes searched mine intently, and for a moment we stood there toe to toe. “The ones who throw their beauty around, waste what they have? Their beauty is only passing. It’s just a shell hiding nothing but shadows and emptiness.”
~Damon from Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
5. Mercy and Adam
They are probably tied at the top spot for my number one favourite romance. Adam is an alpha werewolf so he has these natural leader qualities. Unluckily for him, Mercy doesn’t like following the leader. You’d think it wouldn’t work out between them but their sometimes clashing personalities make it so much hotter.
“The snarl didn’t make Adam’s too-handsome features less handsome, but it would probably have scared anyone else. Me? I think I have some kind of subliminal death wish because Adam’s anger makes me go weak at the knees, and not in a terrified sort of way.”
~Mercy from Night Broken by Patricia Briggs
6. Elena and Clay
This is the other couple tied for my number one spot. I love everything about them, even their rock start. Elena holds a grudge against Clay for turning her into a werewolf but they can’t deny they have some intense chemistry. What I really like about them is that Elena is the more dominant one and Clay is happy to follow her around even though he’s bigger and a lot scarier. It’s nice to see a more modern (werewolf) relationship like that.
“What’s this?” Nick said. “Bedtime?”
No one answered him. I kept my eyes closed.
You look positively content, Clayton,” Nick continued, thumping down on the floor. “That wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that Elena is cuddled up with you, is it?”
It’s cold in here,” I murmured.
Doesn’t feel cold.”
It’s cold,” Clay growled.
I could start a fire.”
I could start one too,” Clay said. “With your clothes. Before you get them off.”

7. Po and Katsa
I can’t tell you exactly why I like this relationship. It’s just so perfect to me. They fit together nicely and are really great at working as a team. Neither one is more dominant over the other and they help each other out when they need it. It was really cute watching them slowly fall in love.
“I know you don’t want this, Katsa. But I can’t help myself. The moment you came barreling into my life I was lost. I’m afraid to tell you what I wish for, for fear you’ll… oh, I don’t know, throw me into the fire. Or more likely, refuse me. Or worst of all, despise me,” he said, his voice breaking and his eyes dropping from her face. His face dropping into his hands. “I love you,” he said. “You’re more dear to my heart than I ever knew anyone could be. And I’ve made you cry; and there I’ll stop.”
~Po from Graceling by Kristen Cashore
8. Valek and Yelena
You will fall in love with everything about this couple. The whole forbidden romance thing is taken to a new level here. The two of them are fighters and it’s sweet seeing how Valek reacts upon hearing about Yelena’s life. They end up making the most perfect couple ever, the witch and the assassin.
“Yelena, you’ve driven me crazy. You’ve caused me considerable trouble and I’ve contemplated ending your life twice since I’ve known you.” Valek’s warm breath in my ear sent a shiver down my spine.
“But you’ve slipped under my skin, invaded my blood and seized my heart.”
“That sounds more like a poison than a person,” was all I could say. His confession had both shocked and thrilled me.
“Exactly,” Valek replied. “You have poisoned me.”
~Valek and Yelena from Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
9. Harry and Ginny
You wouldn’t know it from the movie but this is one of the greatest romances in book history. It’s also one of the slowest building romances. Ginny was always my favourite and it was really cute when Harry “sees” her for the first time. I love how awkward he is and how Ginny has to take charge sometimes. They don’t expect anything from each other but somehow they know that things will work out.
“I never really gave up on you,” she said. “Not really. I always hoped…. Hermione told me to get on with life, maybe go out with some other people, relax a bit around you, because I never used to be able to talk if you were in the room, remember? And she thought you might take a bit more notice if I was a bit more — myself.”
“Smart girl, that Hermione,” said Harry, trying to smile. “I just wish I’d asked you sooner. We could’ve had ages…months…years maybe…”
“But you’ve been too busy saving the Wizarding world,” said Ginny, half laughing. “Well…I can’t say I’m surprised. I knew this would happen in the end. I knew you wouldn’t be happy unless you were hunting Voldemort. Maybe that’s why I like you so much.”
~Harry and Ginny from Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
10. Gemma and Kartik
From the first time we saw Kartik I was hoping really hard that they would fall in love. It’s a slow burning romance, probably because of the time period. Kartik isn’t rich and believes that they can’t be together but they somehow are always ending up with each other. The romance gets much heavier in book three and will end up breaking your heart.
“A gentle breeze catches in the branches then and I hear it, soft and low, a murmured prayer–Gem-ma, Gem-ma–and then the leaves bend down and trail delicate fingers across my cold cheeks.”
~Gemme from A Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
