Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Where did I get it?

Found it on BookOutlet for a great price!

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can’t believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

I hate that they changed these covers mid series. Now my set doesn’t match anymore. I really, really hate when publishers do that. It makes me sad.

Initial Thoughts

I had high expectations from the first few books although the 4th book wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. I probably should have reread the others before moving onto this one but I could remember the more important details.

My New BFF

I still really liked Dee even though she was a little off in this book. I just feel like we’d be great friends. She has such a quirky personality that whenever she’s in a scene I can’t help but smile. I wish she was real because it would be great having someone like her around all the time. Also Archer is always a laugh and I’m glad he was around a lot.

My Crush

Nobody can read this book and not fall in love with Daemon. Sometimes I feel like he’s a bit over-dramatic but then he uses some logic and everything makes sense again. Plus who wouldn’t fall in love with a guy who is that intense with a girl. He almost gave up saving the world because of her, which is a little unrealistic but when he does it it just turns out to be extremely hot. I don’t understand how he pulls that off.

Writing Style

I was a little disappointed plot wise with this book. It just didn’t live up to my expectations I guess. All the characters continued to be great though. I liked how they got to work with a lot of new and unexpected people because it was so much more intense that way. I just feel like the plot didn’t suck me in like in the first books. I wasn’t hooked until I finished and I was able to put the book down for a bit.

Closing Thoughts

This was a great book but not my favourite. I just wished that the ending wasn’t so typical. I thought she could have done so much better. It was still a good book though and I’m glad I read it. Daemon and Katy will continue to be a favourite couple of mine for a very long time.

“It’s not like I’m going to run up and hug him.”
His expression turned bland. “I’d sure hope not. I might get jealous.”
“You’d get jealous if she hugged a tree,” Archer tossed out.
“Maybe.” Daemon coasted to a stop in a parking space behind the car. “I’m needy like that.”
