If anyone wants to participate in this with me let me know. I’d love to see what others come up with. I’m trying really hard to pick popular books that everyone has read but it’s much harder than you think! This week my topic is:
If you liked Clockwork Angel
If you like it because you liked the twist on Victorian style
The Winner’s Curse was an amazing book and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s got a Victorian style to it while being in a completely different world. The main character is strong and powerful and isn’t afraid of anything. There’s also a hint of a big romance to come!
The Kiss of Deception is another example of a Victorian style book in a different world. It’s not 100% Victorian but I found some similarities that reminded me of it. This book is not what you think it is. Ever. You think you have everything figured out only to have all those theories thrown in your face. Whatever you think while reading this book, you’re wrong. Don’t trust anything.
If you liked it because you like historical fiction
A Great and Terrible Beauty is set at a boarding school in the Victorian era. It also has hints of supernatural and romance to make it that much more exciting.
A Curse Dark as Gold is a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin set in the Victorian era once again. It’s really cool seeing how this fairy tale could play out in real life.
A Kiss at Midnight is another retelling only this time about Cinderella. This one is an adult book for those older readers out there. It’s cute, fun, and romantic.
If you liked it because you like steampunk
Dearly, Departed is a book about a zombie apocalypse sort of thing. There’s lots of hints of steampunk in here though because the society in here went back to the Victorian era but they still kept their technology. It’s like Victorian era #2.
The Rithmatist reminds me of Harry Potter a lot. The magic is a lot different and the steampunk in this book is very obvious. I could not put this book down until I finished and I don’t expect anyone else to do the same.
Once again, any other recommendations are appreciated! And if anyone else wants to join me, let me know!
