Where did I get it? Went to Chapters to buy it as soon as it came out! Couldn’t wait!

Golden Son continues the stunning saga of Darrow, a rebel forged by tragedy, battling to lead his oppressed people to freedom from the overlords of a brutal elitist future built on lies. Now fully embedded among the Gold ruling class, Darrow continues his work to bring down Society from within.

A life-or-death tale of vengeance with an unforgettable hero at its heart,Golden Son guarantees Pierce Brown’s continuing status as one of fiction’s most exciting new voices.

So pretty! I love how simple it is!

Initial Thoughts

I was waiting too long for this book! My expectations were extremely high because of the first book. I was realistic though. I knew that the chances of this book being better than the first were low. The first book is almost always that best and with everything going on this series was no exception.

My New BFF

I’m a little disappointed there wasn’t more Mustang at the start. She did show up though and I’m grateful for it because I love her to death. I think the way she goes about some things is hilarious. In this book she purposely does some things to annoy her father and I think it’s great. She’s also incredible smart and such a bad ass. I’d easily pick her to be stranded on a desert island with me. What’s not to like?

My Crush

Darrow never stops impressing me but I’m nervous where this character is going to go. Is he going to turn super cocky and lose all his friends? Or is he going to realise he can’t be a great leader without close friends? I just don’t want this to turn into a typical series. I think Darrow can be such a great character if the author keeps this up. Please, please, please don’t ruin him! He’s already such a fantastic character! I love that we can see his process of thinking when he’s deciding on a course of action. He never stops surprising me though!

Writing Style

This book was a lot different from the first one but still has the same feel. There’s a lot more politics and war planning which I’m not usually a big fan off but the author makes it interesting. There’s always some new plan in affect that the reader doesn’t know about so it’s fun seeing what happens. It was fast paced and full of tons of action.

Closing Thoughts

I’m very impressed with this book. I still like the first book better but this was a great sequel. I’m really looking forward to seeing what else Pierce Brown can do. I’m nervous it’s going to be disappointing because I’ve loved everything in this series so far. If you haven’t already started this series I strongly suggest you do! You won’t be disappointed!
