1. (in folklore) one of a class of supernatural beings, generally conceived as having a diminutive human form and possessing magical powers with which they intervene in human affairs.

1250-1300; Middle English, Old French

Featured Fairy:

Celeana from Throne of Glass

This is sort of, kind of a spoiler but she really is one of my favourite characters so I had to talk about her. She’s just so perfect! I love that everyone thinks she the most dangerous person (she kind of is) but she’s a really great person. She’s done what she’s done for very good reason. I love how she’s an excellent assassin and she wins the challenges because of her intelligence, not her fighting skills. She’s the perfect female heroine because she can keep up with all the guys while still being very smart. She’s definitely a character I look up to. Plus she has great relationships with all the other characters. She keeps things interesting.

“Libraries were full of ideas–perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.”

Summary: In the dark, filthy salt mines of Endovier, an eighteen-year-old girl is serving a life sentence. She is a trained assassin, the best of her kind, but she made a fatal mistake: she got caught.

Young Captain Westfall offers her a deal: her freedom in return for one huge sacrifice. Celaena must represent the prince in a to-the-death tournament—fighting the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land. Live or die, Celaena will be free. Win or lose, she is about to discover her true destiny. But will her assassin’s heart be melted?

Are fairies real? I recently read a book in which the author published photos she had taken of them. Made me wonder!
