TAG: Reader Problems

I was sort of tagged by Rachana @ Inpired by Literature to do the Reader Problems Tag. It sounded like fun so I thought I’d give it a shot!

You have 20.000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

There’s usually one book that was released recently that I desperately want to read. When I finish it there’s usually a book that catches my eye so I move on to that one. Rinse and repeat.

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or commit?

I hate not finishing books. I always commit even if I have to force myself to read it. Maybe it gets better! Who knows! There’s only 2 or 3 books that I remember putting down because I couldn’t do it. Sometimes it happens.

The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

I tried this last year. I was so close! I ended up buying a couple graphic novels since they’re easy reads but there just wasn’t enough time to finish my goal. So this year I lowered my goal and I’ll try again!

The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

I have to buy the matching covers. Or in the case of Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout I’m putting off buying it. I HATE when covers don’t match. Shouldn’t I at least have the option to buy all matching covers? Also my series have to either be all hard cover or all soft cover. No mixes!

Everyone and their mother love a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

There’s always someone else out there who doesn’t like it too. I can sometimes find them. If not then I ignore every post and comment about how amazing the book was. The cold shoulder works right?

You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

Lots and lots of blinking. If that doesn’t help I have to put the book down. That could get awkward.

A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!

Depends on the book. Sometimes when it’s been a REALLY long time I’ll reread. Like with the Shatter Me series. I read that series forever ago and now have to reread the first two so I can finally get to the third. If it’s only been months or something I’ll read detailed reviews about what happened. If tat doesn’t work I don’t mind rereading.

You do not want anyone. ANYONE. Borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

Sometimes I lie. It’s horrible I know but some people just don’t give your books back! I’ll say it’s already being borrowed or something along those lines. No sorry I actually don’t own it.

Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

Usually there’s a really, really good book that can help me out here. A book with lots of action that can distract me from the previous book. Other times I’ll reread a favourite of mine. Harry Potter, Mercy Thompson and, Elena Danvers are my favs!

There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

I make a list of the ones I NEED to read. Usually sequels and books by my favourite authors. There doesn’t tend to be too many. I’ve got around 15 for this year. (So far). I just buy what I can!

After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Depends on the book. Sometimes less than a day. Other times it could be months. Who knows! Depends what I’m feeling.

So that was fun! Some interesting questions there!

I’m tagging anyone who wants to do it! Let me know when you do in the comments and I’ll check it out!

  1. Hey there! Glad to see you gave this tag a go 😛 || Oh yea, there’s always that one book I desperately want to read too! Right now it’s “All The Bright Places.” || WOW, you’re really intense with the whole committing to finishing books thing! I usually just give up if I can’t “take it anymore.” || Oh my gosh, I’ve done that before 😛 I sort-of lied about not owning the book a friend wanted to borrow (or I hid it behind other books I didn’t mind parting with so much on my bookshelf). Anyway, I felt kinda bad too but..sharing books isn’t really my thing.
