Hooray for Top Ten Tuesday! As always, this meme is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish so go check them out for more details. This week the topic is:

Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want to Read

This could possibly be a huge list. I’ll do the best I can though.

Enders Game: I just don’t think I’m that interested even though every talks about how good it is.

Fifty Shades of Grey: I’m not interested in reading porn. Sorry. And it’s just gross and doesn’t make women look all that good.

The Lord of the Rings: I want to read these books but they’re just so huge! I’m not sure I’m willing to set aside all that time.

The Fault in our Stars: I read one John Green book and I hated it. It didn’t make me want to read any more. Especially this one that just reminds me of A Walk to Remember.

The Raven Boys: I got about 10 pages into this book and was bored. I don’t think I can push through it.

If I Stay: I just don’t want to give into all the hype only to be disappointed.

Half Bad: My friend told me how much he hated this book so I probably won’t pick it up.

Dead Until Dark: Another book that I got 10 pages into. The main character acted like she’s 3 and I couldn’t handle it.

The Bitter Kingdom: I loved the first two book s in this series but I couldn’t get into this one. Maybe if I reread the first two and just marathon this whole series it would be better.

Lady Midnight: There’s no image for this book because it’s not out yet. It’s Cassandra Clarse newest series after the Mortal Instruments. I don’t think I’m willing to give her another chance.

Happy reading!

  1. Huh. I loved The Fault in Our Stars, The Raven Boys, and If I Stay. It makes me sad to hear that you don’t want to read them. It’s okay though. I forgive you 🙂 Interesting list.

  2. Ender’s Game was a let down imo. It felt kinda of sexist. There was literally a huge lack of female characters. If you’re not ready for LOTR, why not read The Hobbit (if you haven’t already)?

  3. You should read TFIOS it’s one of my favorite books. I know it’s been over hyped and stuff but i really do think it’s something everyone should read. If I stay is freakin’ amazing and I love that book to pieces. I definitely recommend it.

  4. Oh man, but the m.c. in Dead Until Dark gets so much better throughout the book… Oh well…

And yea, Fifty Shades was a nightmare. I read the first book and thought, I just wasted hours of my life reading this drivel… :/

  5. Over-hyped books give me pause too. Personally, I think If I Stay is worth the hype but I get your reasoning. Stiefvater’s books all start out slow and kinda atmospheric- I haven’t read The Raven Boys yet either. Half Bad almost made my list too!

  6. Second you on the “Enders Game”. It’s a book that I feel like I should read, but I really have no desire to. I might force myself to one day. Dead Until Dark I’m really not interested in either despite it having a lot of the qualities I like in series. I just get the feeling that the series is one of those that the author has dragged out for too long. So I don’t really feel like getting into a series like that.

I read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. It has issues with not really including female characters either. Finishing the series is on my bucket list.
