Hilarious

(hi·lar·i·ous): arousing great merriment; extremely funny

Sometimes you just need a little bit of humour in a good book. You need a break from all the serious action and romance and everything. That’s why humour is essential in books I love. I love it when a book makes me cry or happy but I especially love when a book makes me laugh out loud. Usually there’s one character that’s the “funny” one but my favourite is when the serious one tells a fantastic joke that you weren’t expecting. That’s the best.

Here are some books that have some sarcasm, humour, and funnies!

  • The Chronicles of Elantra – Michelle Sagara
  • Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
  • Seriously…I’m Kidding – Ellen Degeneres

  1. It’s generally easier to get me to cry while reading a book than laugh out loud–but I so appreciate it when a book makes me laugh! The last book I read that did have me laughing out loud in a few spots was the recent novel Where’d You Go Bernadette–there were some lines of dialogue in that book that hit me in just the right spot! And now that I think about it, it’s usually dialogue that gets me giggling when I’m reading.

    • I like the books that make me giggle over laughing out loud. But I love it when a character is sarcastic and funny. It’s so much more entertaining!

  2. I remember I had a housemate once who found it weird when I would laugh out loud alone in my room. I was reading a Norweigan comic book and I told her it was hilarious. She said that no reading material had ever made her laugh out loud, only smile. I was as shocked with her as she was with me.
